Also if the ground looks like it might be an issue, then the connector for it is in the footwell, E252 is behind the kick panel near the drivers door. As said, unlikely its that as the cruise wouldn't work if it was missing.

It might help to add your vehicle details (year, fuel type) to your signature as well.

Rave shows pin 2 of the connector is used for the lamps (backlight) on the diesel version, this is the RW cable (Red and white at a guess?).
Pin 6 is shown for the status lamp

Theres a full circuit diagram in the ETM section of the P38 Rave which might help you see what should be connected, and does describe how the system works as well, screenshot of the relevent page is below

It wouldn't be a bad idea to check for 12v on those two pins, as shown it shares a ground for all 3 functions of the switch, so unless theres something wrong with the loom on those two pins, there isn't much else that can cause it. Unless both switches are faulty, which is unlikely??

I think my issue is more that Norton doesn't like the ancient version of Acrobat running as well, Microcat is just a pain to get to run any other way as you say, I found the VM for both worked without major hassles and can be setup to print fairly easily too if required.

You will find windows 10 will allow you to open the iso file directly rather than burning to disc first. It just gives you an extra drive letter for the file.

That said, I don't run Rave on Windows 10 as it doesn't seem to get along well with it for me, I use an XP virtual machine with VMware to run it, same as Microcat. VMware will also allow you to mount an iso file to use as a virtual drive inside the virtual machine.

If your memory of the light coming on before is correct, I'd suspect its only likely to be disabled in the BECM. Is it worth asking the guy who fixed your BECM how he set it up? Don't know the autologic diagnostics, but I'd doubt they are capable of doing anything that would involve changing settings, Probabbly fine for reading/clearing fault codes and displaying sensor information, but not able to change settings etc.

You really need to check its enabled in the BECM before trying anything else, given you have swapped BECM about previously its possible its not set to enabled. Do you have access to diagnositcs? (Nanocom or similar?)

I'd suspect its a bit of both - the signups are probabbly people, the posts more likely bots fed with the logins generated earlier. The waiting for a week seems fairly common as well, they rarely post straight after registration, probabbly to bypass some of the restrictions that some forums have on new posters.

phpBB (which LPG forum uses) is more commonly used software, so probabbly a more common target to be exploited by bots as well.

Alot of the time you can tell from the name alone that its going to be a spammer too. Random nonsense characters on the end of another name like I've just booted off over there - Ruslanpgg, Ruslaneny, Ruslanitk all posted similar nonsense posts that got caught in the spam trap.

At the moment yes very early mornings sometimes. 7am starts on site with a 1-2 hour drive means getting up at silly o'clock some days, The plugin seems to catch the majority of what appears though. Not sure why it doesn't catch those stupid trainer spam ones though, they always seem to slip through (and are completely irrelvent nonsense as well)

A little more digging shows that the company is based in Hong Kong. How it is possible to sell a battery with free postage at that price seems hard to believe. However I have had a confirmation of the order - number 11- and an email detailing tracking and delivery time.

Its possible they have stock elsewhere. Someone I know did this for a while with some of the cheap tat they list on ebay (phone chargers in his case), they send over a pallet load, you confirm you've received it, then they send the orders onto you to do the final despatch stage.

In his case it didn't work out too well - took far too long to clear the stock, and he got left with about 500 chargers to dispose of as they weren't upto spec. He took them to the local tip who refused to take them due to the quantity (commercial waste). I think there was around another pallet load of other stuff they eventually picked up. The model seems simple but how you'd make money with free shipping at those prices on items like car batteries is puzzling to say the least. Time will tell hopefully you get what you want from it, at least its cheap enough if you don't for it to not be a disaster though.

You'd be surprised how much spam appears over on the lpgforum, its fairly quiet here by comparison from what i've seen. Though maybe it doesn't get seen as I get emails for new posts over there which might make it more noticable.

Seems a bit suspect checking out the contact us page - no address given at all, and nothing upto the checkout page indicates any HTTPS usage on the site, hopefully at least the checkout stage does have it.

Check the lambda sensors are actually working correctly would be the first step. You need to look at the output with diagnostics ideally to check that, but that should give some clue as to whats going on. Basic service may help if its been stood a while as well (oil and air filters, maybe treat it to a new set of plugs while your there if needed).

Is it on gas or petrol? And if its on gas, what fuel type has it been set to on the tester?

I'll have a look through the box full of wiring loom down at the workshop this weekend and let you know if I have any luck

I wanted the bit of the vehicle loom with the connector on it so I could just plug straight in only to find that the one remaining breakers around here take the whole loom off and weight them in as scrap. In the old days I would have been able to wander around with a pair of wire cutters, find a suitable plug and chop it off but not these days.

Have you sorted that? We did chop up (quite literally) an Early Focus (wanted the front subframe off it, and that made it difficult to transport afterwards as it had no way to attach the front wheels, so it got sectioned into pieces small enough to lift onto our trailer) and a load of the loom was kept just in case it was wanted later. If you know which plug you want (Round plug or square, I think its likely the round one?), I can have a look around as that bit might still be available if you need it? Might take a week or so though.

Cheaper than some... assumung the 07 means P38 license on a Nanocom?

ah, yes. Motronic.

Frankly, it's the best option short of dealer diagnostics (testbook).

They're cheaper from the source

Looks like Bearmach might actually work out cheaper by the time you add shipping in? Theres only £3.67 between them?

Some VW vehicles store the immobiliser data on the instrument cluster, which is far more annoying. And they do the same thing with the odometer reading as described above as well. Having swapped one over in a Golf for someone who managed to fry his old cluster by repeatedly jump starting the car (at least thats what suspected to have done it, maybe it just failed for some other reason) I can confirm thats definitely the case (and it won't start without some work with VCDS and VAG-Tacho in that case either)

Front one is the more likely one to get gunged up anyway.

The markings on your mystery box don't help much as to what it does, It looks like its something AC stag related, and clearly autogas related. But the rest of the text translates to Warranty Seal, I'd wonder if it might be connected to the diagnostic socket on the lpg system? Tracing the cable back to the other end of it would be a good idea. A Shot of the connector might be helpful too?

Can't see it being much else lpg related, Assuming you have a multipoint then you shouldn't need any sort of emulator for the petrol injectors.

If that is a diagnostic interface, theres a good chance your ecu is hidden somewhere back there, the cable tends to be quite short on that lead compared to the rest of the loom for the lpg system.

The special connector is usually quite simple - not seen a p38 one, but its usually as simple as an extra metal clip that shorts the pins when the other plug is removed. Its usually held out of the way by the plug so shouldn't be able to short it. On a connector that is approaching 20 years old (possibly older?) its just as possible that the spring contacts in the connector are not as springy as they need to be anymore.

Looks like you've located the issue anyway, Hopefully you've sorted it now.

I've had SRS lights come on with spurious faults when the battery is in need of a charge, particually if the car has been sitting for most of the week and not moving. Had it happen a few times with the passenger side pretensioner whenever there was someone on that side of the car, which disappeared after giving the battery a full charge.
