I've not heard off Richard H in a while, neither has Dave who has developed the Filllpg App.

Also Simon - Unless we have registered on there and posted 10 topics, or pay them £3 we can't read the post you linked to?

But its only £10 a year cheaper if you do have a later vehicle, whichever tax class it sits in.

Best bet if you want to play it safe is take photos of the old and new cluster just in case it comes up later on. Only really a concern if you had say an insurance claim or similar and it had covered far greater mileage than you would normally do.

Yeah, that's weird, that started doing that when I added the LPG section. Let's see what happens if I turn that off...

Edit: ... and now it's back to normal. Hmm.

Not here it isn't! It was normal upto the weekend, think it started playing up then?

Richard's setup makes more sense, but its only opening time it happens on for me.

Boom, done. Suggestions, moderators and category titles please, in PM if you prefer to be discreet ;-)
Good stuff now just waiting for the first post!

Is it just me, or does opening time now not mark posts as read after they have all been read? The other sections work fine, but that one (in this section) always shows unread posts even when I've read them all, clicking mark all read seems to clear it until the next time.

Just as an aside, since it's non-commercial it does not need to do anything for GDPR, same as this forum. Just as long as you're using industry best practice to minimise the risk and impact of a data breach, there's not a whole lot you need to do.

Do you want to create a section for LPG here, and migrate everyone across?

It would be good to get a dump of the old lpgforum database so it doesn't get lost forever - there's a lot of good information on there.

Would sound like a plan if its possible, might be worth speaking to/emailing Damien to see whats possible? Though do you want all sorts of questions on vehicles other than Range Rovers?

Yeah I noticed its gone dead quiet over the last year, Dai occasionally pops up, but usually to respond to something posted. Think Rossko stopped installing as the associated website disappeared, same with Tubbs think hes stopped as well.

Yeah, mine cost somewhat more in April 2017 - £356.02 all in with the power supply (though thats the Disco 2 version as you might notice by the lead). Though the same one now is £390.39 (incl. VAT) so it could be worse!

As Clive says there is a trick in getting it to go on easily, though it would probably survive better than most phones manage to (having said that, the amount of scratches, dents and scrape marks over my 2 year old phone suggest its been though the wars and managed to survive so far)

Just incase anyone here has missed this post hidden in the announcements on the lpgforum

LPG Forum is closing - August 2018
I am sorry to say that this forum is going to be closing down at the end of Augist 2018. I no longer have the time to maintain it and it is desperate need of a refresh, updating, and have steps taken to ensure it complies with new data regulations.

This forum has served the LPG community for a very long time and there is so much information on here so it would be a shame to see it lost. I am going to look at ways that I can create an acrhive of all the posts and keep them on-line for reference purposes.

The other LPG forum is still operating though I have no idea how active it is. The web address is http://www.lpginfo.co.uk/forum. This was setup a number of years ago by a customer who had, had a bad conversion experience who felt that lpgforum.co.uk was being biased, hence the title of the website.

Thank you to our moderators for their stirling work over the years, and of course to the members from the trade sharing their invaludable experience.

Also check there isn't any signs of wear on the driveshaft where the seal goes, though with a new seal even a bit of wear shouldn't allow it to leak. Collets on mine didn't move either. As said above the bearing on mine was in a right state, but not really obvious until it was lifted up on the mot ramp, where there was clearly vertical play in it (wouldn't have been noticeable for the play in the balljoints anyway whilst driving)

What Aragorn says above is what I'd say as well - even if they knock money off for taking the wheels off it doesn't make any sense to spend money on wheels you don't actually want or need.

When we were trying to get rid of a stripped Focus recently (and this was really stripped - to the point there was no front subframe on it so couldn't be towed etc) the local scrapyard would pick it up, but it was a case of they wouldn't pay anything for it, and couldn't do it right away and would phone back to arrange. We ended up cutting it up with a reciprocating saw (not recommended as it made a right mess, and not an option with a car with a proper chassis) and lifting it in pieces into a trailer and taking it elsewhere after a week as it was in the way - just as we returned from dumping the first lot off the phone rang with the original place I'd phoned with a collection day arranged!

You may find it helps to remove the brakes and sit the wheels on the hubs directly (remove the caliper and brackets and disc etc) particularly if your trying to fit smaller wheels on there.

Huh? Not with mine and mine came direct from BBS. You'd need something that doesn't cover the screen as it isn't like some things (phones, tablest, etc) that you use your fingertip on, it needs a good poke with a fingernail.

You wouldn't be able to use it with it on though, only for carrying purposes. Not sure if the original units came with it, but the Evo (or at least mine) did. It will go on the back of the unit for storage when your using it, just clips on same as the front.

I did remember seeing a holder for it (windscreen holder) but I either imagined it, or they have removed them from their webshop as they aren't there now.

There should be a metal clip on cover that comes with it (though i'd say putting that cover on is the thing thats most likely to cause you to drop it as its quite tight). Are you looking for something to store it in, or something to use it with a cover on it?

Did you get an answer on Tuesday then?

When i had mine apart for the Balljoints and the wheel bearing on the nearside, there was a leak as well. Seal seemed fine, but wheel bearing was completely shot to hell. Not actually noticable by noise etc, only picked up on MOT. After replacing the wheel bearing (there was detectable play at the wheel beyond the balljoints) the leak stopped. Didn't need to replace the seal.

This might help, it does show 2 fitted. Would suspect they were there, but perhaps John Wayne threw them away whilst he was busy snipping wires

These > https://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?query=CMC100150 I think are the bits Richard means?

As i happens i had an interesting arguement with my MOT tester last week...

They failed my A4 for having a non-functional Engine management light.

It doesnt have one. Theres a bulb position on the dashboard, but A4's built before 2001 simply didnt have it connected in the European market. No idea why, but they're all like that and theres not even any wiring between the cluster and ECU. Many pre-2001 VAG models are similar.

However they've recently added the check for a working EML to the MOT, and the test has no provision for saying "it doesnt have one". It simply assumes all cars have one and that it will work.

He phoned VOSA, who just sorta shrugged and said "we've seen it before with a VW but not an Audi". He then phoned Audi, who insisted the car should have a management light (clearly main dealers with no clue about >18year old models!).

In the end i ended up printing out the wiring diagram for my car, and also for a 2001 model, which clearly showed the 2001 car had the bulb and wiring shown, and my car had nothing which was enough to satisfy him and he passed it. But your average joe isnt going to have that sort of info available to convince the tester, clearly these changes havent been fully considered!

Most of the Fords I've seen of that era are the same - or have an MIL light that only ever comes on when the engine isn't running, even if theres misfires logged etc.

I'd keep an eye out when the bonding gunge is being put on as well - More than a few times I've heard of leaks becoming apparent later on where some bodger hasn't sealed it all the way round. Doesn't appear to be a difficult thing to ask someone to do a decent job, but some people just aren't capable even when something seems simple to do anything approaching a decent job.

Hope they are covering your excess for the inconvenience as well while your at it. If not then suggest you kick up a right stink with the insurance company once its been fixed properly.
