Well, it wont fail on rear brake pipes anyway...
That's the one. Most of it's fairly intact. most of it doesn't leak and definitely no corrosion.
:)
If only it was a beauty. Still a long way to go, unfortunately.
Paint's still scabby, as, apart from the front bumper, which hopefully I'll spray tomorrow if humidity's right, it still needs love. Working my way through a bit at a time though...
I've got one with no corrosion at all in that corner that you can have :)
Some were half colour coded, some full colour coded and some just good old black.
You can pressure wash- but you have to do it carefully
I'm not sure the council will appreciate any dissolved oil and engine muck being washed over their road though as they hate crud like that getting into the drains.
Maybe go to a truck wash where they've got interceptors in the drains to catch that kind of thing?

I normally use brake cleaner spray for smaller bits or diesel for bigger bits. That and lighting bonfires is the only good use for diesel as far as I'm concerned.......
Use diesel as a cleaner?
Yup! Old school- red is cheaper than paraffin (and almost anything else). Use it in my parts washer as well, and periodically empty that, bung the used red through a filter and burn it in my space heater. Total recycling if not hugely caring for the environment.
After a lot of faffing around with every fixing hole for the condenser rad, and replacing a defunct fan unit, the car's mostly got its smile back again. Just have to finish the dentistry on the bumper.
Moral of the story- if you buy cheap, prepare to spend a lot of time rectifying build issues
Christmas Tree- needs to be clean without lumps of debris etc clogging it. 50/50 on whether it breaks when you try to pull it out. My personal non-destructive test is, after a good wash, if you can breathe through it, so can the motor. Doesn't taste great though.
Degreaser of choice? Red diesel and a good blast off with the air line.

Yes, but check every hole as, as I say, OB had just one hole that wasn't big enough.
It's a cross I have to bear :)
No. 7 actually
Purely personal preference. Some polish, some spray, some just clean them :)
You can barely see them underneath all the inlet stuff anyway so it's just down to the way they make you feel. Most important is a damn good clean out inside and on the gasket faces, and a close look at the christmas tree separator in the RH breather hole.
NGK are the ones to go for
PFR6N-11 are guaranteed to fit all Thor motors. The last heads had a smaller machined socket.
NGK BPR6ES fit most peoples Thor motors though.
I leave gap as standard
Cheapest around seem to be:
PFR6N-11 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-25-45-75-218-418-NGK-Platinum-Spark-Plugs-Set-x-4-/250633164017? (2 sets of course)
BPR6ES http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOUR-x4-GENUINE-NGK-SPARK-PLUGS-NGK7822-BPR6ES-/321936375235? (2 sets)
And corrected it so that they're driving on the right side of the road (for you) as well. Clever stuff Tony :)
Start giving the two main bumper bolts a daily soaking with your favourite brand of penetrating oil straight away. When you come to remove the bumper you'll find it's quick and easy as long as those bolts cooperate- couple of bolts, couple of clips and couple of electrical connectors.
Loads of bumpers on the Bay- delivered £75-90, or if any are close to you, a lot cheaper than that.
In the meantime- few cable ties and some duct tape and you're good to go :)
Had something similar whan fitting mine recently. Couldn't get it to sit nicely and get inlet manifold bolts in. I put it down to my use of Hylomar spray round the coolant ports making it too "sticky" to slide into place. Then tried a genuine LR one- fell nicely into place.
I hate it when stuff fails after midday Friday- means you're usually stuffed for the weekend.
How about...

That's pretty impressive- a P38 on a Wall of Death is pretty exciting, but towing at the same time? Wow!
I use Dayco on both of mine- haven't had a problem (with belts anyway) yet.
Have you checked belt tensioner for alignment and full and free movement?
Sounds like a project for next years Summer Camp :)
